Kate Gavin is a ThoughtFull designer drawing on a depth of both user research experience along with a background in graphic design. Kate works with client teams to help them build empathy for users, and clarify the problems worth solving through the design of experiences that make a difference. Prior to ThoughtFull, Kate worked within the Innovation and Design Team at ASB Bank, part of Commonwealth Bank, where she developed a strong understanding of the financial service industry.
Geoff Suvalko is a ThoughtFull Founding Partner and has 25 year’s experience working across a broad range of design disciplines. His focus is on the translation of insight into transformative design strategies and solutions. Geoff has led both small and large design and innovation programs for organisations such as PepsiCola, Morningstar and Air New Zealand, and has received numerous international design awards for his work. Geoff has a MDM at IIT Institute of Design, and he is an Advisory Board Member at NZTE Better By Design.
Kait Smith is a design researcher and strategist. She seeks to connect clients to their users, helping them to better witness and respond to a world outside of their own. As a researcher, she translates insights into action. As a maker, she bridges the gap between concept and creation. With an emphasis in visual ethnography, analysis, communication strategy and prototyping, she leads and supports design teams. She has partnered with clients in the fields of pharmaceuticals, home and personal care products, education and healthcare.
Tom DeVries is a ThoughtFull Founding Partner and hybrid business and design strategist. His focus is on helping businesses grow and differentiate themselves by creating new forms of value. Tom is a human-centered design methods expert with experience leading and advising organisations of all sizes. He is active in the start-up community as an advocate for the design of compelling customer experiences.
Georgina Clarke is a ThoughtFull design lead, working closely with client teams in establishing a disciplined design process to ensure that compelling and relevant offerings are created that respond to the needs of customers and users. Georgina has a depth of experience working across a wide variety of industries and design disciplines winning a wide range of design accolades globally along the way. Prior to working with ThoughtFull, Georgina worked with Farenheit 212 and IDEO.
Hudson Smales is a ThoughtFull Partner with 20 years of brand, design and innovation design and research experience of translating user motivations and behaviours into actionable business opportunities. Prior to Thoughtull, Hudson spent 10 years within Air New Zealand as Head of Research and Design and was responsible for the design and development of a wide range of experiences from seat innovation, spatial design, brand, digital offerings and service design. Air New Zealand has been consistently voted world’s best airline.
Dillon Vrosh is a systems thinker who is talented at leveraging design to reduce complex problems into simple to understand parts. Dillon has worked on several service design projects based in ethnographic research through to designing digital user experiences. He has also designed workshops, interactions, and group sessions that demonstrate the power of design in the world. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Grand Valley State University, Dillon is a curious designer, photographer and artist with a deep knowledge and understanding of how value can be delivered through design.
Laate Olukotun is a ThoughtFull Director with a passion for leading creative teams through uncharted territories. He has designed and delivered products, services, and experiences within a range of unique settings – from multi-billion-dollar corporations to new startups in new industries. He has worked with a wide assortment of renowned brands, including Steelcase, Mayo Clinic, and NextFab. Laate holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and a Master of Design from the Institute of Design at IIT.
Richard Shed is a ThoughtFull design lead with over 18 years of experience in the fields of product, service and interaction strategy and design across both the UK and New Zealand. Applying a creative user-centered approach, Richard works with organisations to undertake ethnographic research, and to translate insights into the design and development of new products, services and experiences. Richard has a design degree from the University of Portsmouth, UK and he has taught design at CCID, Copenhagen and the Interaction Design Institute, Ivrea, Italy
Connor Irwin is a ThoughtFull designer who brings a diverse creative background and a rigorous curiosity. Connor excels in dissecting and communicating complex problems, providing a wide range of design support throughout engagements. Prior to ThoughtFull, Connor worked at a startup incubator and acquired a degree in the burgeoning field of design methodology.
Timothy Miller is a ThoughtFull Director who connects the dots between design, engineering, technology, and business to build compelling customer experiences. With over 20 years of problem solving, through the lens of an architect, human-centric designer, and business strategist, Tim has successfully designed and implemented physical, digital, brand, and business strategies for premier corporations such as Boeing, Best-Buy, Amazon, and LATAM Airlines.
Allysa Smales is a ThoughtFull Research Lead who has specialised in consumer insights for over 18 years across a broad range of public sector, FMCG, service, media and retail markets. Allysa's skills lie in identifying human needs and drivers in a category, and applying these learnings to inform strategic design and innovation strategies.
Rob Monacelli is a strategic, creative and business-savvy designer with over 17 years of experience. He is a hybrid thinker who is passionate about design thinking—from consumer research and synthesis, through ideation and prototyping, to implementing user-centered solutions. Prior to his work with ThoughtFull, Rob was a Creative Director and design strategist at a strategic design consultancy in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he led a number of initiatives focused on brand strategy, culture change, user experiences and business design. Before that he was the brand creative director and product marketing manager at Merrell.
Fatima Padron is a researcher and systems thinker with a background in public health. With a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan, Fatima has always been innately curiosity about the way and the reasons people interact with each other and with the world. Fatima has designed trainings, workshops, and professional meetings that demonstrate the power of the meaningful and intentional collaboration. Her passion lies in using empathy and design to create impactful solutions.
Sara Klele is a strategic designer focused on organising complex information into clear and compelling visual communication. She has collaborated closely with client teams of all sizes to integrate their business requirements into design strategies. Drawing from her diverse background, she solves problems and uncovers opportunities in unique ways. Sara is a design advocate and an active leader in the design community.
Ian Culver is a curious designer and systems thinker who takes a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving. Stitching together his educational & professional background in visual communication, human-centered design, marketing, and video production, Ian strives to be versatile in his ability to deliver carefully considered solutions for a wide range of audiences. He believes that design can make the world a better place, and consistently puts this at the forefront of his thinking.
